The Mauna Kea Volcano stands at 14,000 feet high and is home to 5 of the world's largest telescopes.  There are over 14 telescopes here in all, making it an astronomer's heaven.  Be careful when you visit though, because at 14,000 feet it is easy to get altitude sickness very very quickly..
