Greece : Rhodes
Old Town Rhodos is an UNESCO World Heritage site. Built by the Knights of the Order of St. John (The Uber-Crusaders as Brennan says), this fort was the main base for the crusades. Double Moated with walls up to 4 meters thick it finally fell to the Ottomans in the mid 16th century. There are only a few gates leading into the old town and this one was around 4 minutes walk from the apartment. |
